Öko-Test takes a closer look at lip gloss
A total of 16 lip gloss products were closely examined in the current April issue of the magazine Öko-Test. Nearly half of the products (7 products) are certified natural cosmetics.
The result: all natural cosmetic products achieved a rating of very good. The other products achieved at most a satisfactory, sometimes only poor to insufficient.
What was the most common reason for this downgrade? Mostly paraffins and paraffin-like substances contained in the product formulations.
In addition, the following substances, among others, were criticized:
- MOAH (mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons)
- Parabens
- UV filters
- PEG and PEG derivatives
- Dyes
Significant levels of heavy metal residues were not criticized this time, in contrast to previous tests.
