Ban of Lilial and Zinc Pyrithione in Cosmetics from March 1, 2022

Ban of Lilial and Zinc Pyrithione in Cosmetics from March 1, 2022

As part of the so-called 4th CMR Omnibus Regulation to adapt the substance annexes of the Cosmetics Regulation (EC) 1223/2009, cosmetics containing any of the following substances may no longer be sold from March 1st:

-       Fragrance Lilial (INCI name Butylphenyl Methylpropional)

-       Anti-dandruff agent or preservative Zinc Pyrithione

This is because both substances were classified as CMR substances some time ago according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 (CLP Regulation).

In addition to these two substances, some other substances are newly included in Annex 2 of the Regulation (EC) 1223/2009.

The BAV Institute, as part of the international Tentamus laboratory group, tests your products for the absence of both substances.

We are also at your side with advice and assistance for all regulatory questions.
