How much cadmium is in cocoa?

How much cadmium is in cocoa?

Cadmium is a heavy metal found everywhere in the environment. From the soil, cadmium enters plants, which are processed into food and feed. Consumers primarily absorb cadmium through food.

Cocoa beans can also absorb toxic heavy metals like cadmium from the ground.

In South America, some cultivation areas are significantly contaminated with cadmium.

The Contaminants Regulation (EC) 1881/2006 sets limits for cocoa and chocolate, among others.

In our Tentamus laboratories, we routinely conduct tests for cadmium and other heavy metals. We provide you with fast and reliable results.

Our customer advisors are happy to assist you with any questions.
