Adjustment of the designation: Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC strain 9027

Recently, a nomenclature change of the microorganism Pseudomonas aeruginosa, ATCC strain number 9027, was made. This change is necessary due to recent findings regarding phylogenetic aspects from the DSMZ (German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures) and the ATCC (American Type Culture Collection).
The new designation valid from now on is: Pseudomonas paraeruginosa.

We would like to point out that this change only affects the Pseudomonas aeruginosa with the specified ATCC strain number. All other relevant Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains for microbiological testing remain unchanged in their nomenclature.

At our institute, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, ATCC 9027 (now: Pseudomonas paraeruginosa, ATCC 9027) is used, among other things, in the performance of preservation challenge tests. For better understanding, we will include both terms in our test reports as follows in the future: Pseudomonas paraeruginosa (formerly Pseudomonas aeruginosa) ATCC 9027.
The properties of the microorganism as well as the performance and significance of the tests conducted remain unchanged.
