All-clear on contaminated beef with Bacillus anthracis - In BAV Newsletter 04/2014

The Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) has given the all-clear for consumers. The cattle, which were raised in Slovakia and slaughtered in Poland, were either not infected or were infected at a very early stage with Bacillus anthracis (the causative agent of anthrax). As a result, the BfR concludes that there is no risk for consumers to contract intestinal anthrax. (Source: Circular BLL-509-2014)
