ALTS publishes decision on fat content in the ice cream category "fruit ice"

A fat additive is not provided for in ice cream with the designation "fruit ice cream" according to the guidelines. However, many fruit ice creams contain small amounts of fat, which can, if necessary, be attributed to the low fat content of the fruits and flavors.

This contradiction raised the question of when an additive can be assumed.
The ALTS has given this some thought and made the following resolution on it.
From a fat content of ≥1.0%, there is a reasonable suspicion of fat addition. With a fat content of ≥ 2.0%, it is assumed that fat has been added, and it is therefore no longer considered "fruit ice cream" according to the guidelines.

In our Tentamus group, we regularly carry out investigations on fat content. We provide you with fast and reliable results.
