AnnualMonitoringReport2010 - In BAV Newsletter 03/2011
The annual report on food and feed monitoring by the Chemical and Veterinary Examination Offices of Baden-Württemberg is available. According to it, 61,969 businesses in Baden-Württemberg were inspected one or more times last year. In these 94,037 inspection visits, a total of 26,199 violations were found in 26% of the inspected businesses. As a result, 394 criminal proceedings and 2,552 administrative offense proceedings were initiated. 1,575 businesses had to be completely or temporarily closed due to unhygienic conditions. A total of 44,148 food samples were analyzed chemically, physically, and microbiologically, as well as checked for labeling deficiencies. 17% of them were objected to. Pathogenic germs (e.g., Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella, Campylobacter, verotoxin-producing Escherichia coli), sharp-edged foreign bodies, and chemical contaminants were identified as health hazards.
