In issue 6/2019, the magazine Öko-Test examined a total of 20 sunscreen products advertised as sensitive or suitable for sensitive skin. For these products, as well as for all other sunscreen products, it is crucial, apart from the SPF (Sun Protection Factor), that the product is applied or reapplied multiple times a day.
Out of the total 20 products tested, 4 were rated good or very good, 10 received a satisfactory rating, and the remaining 6 were rated as poor at most. Factors contributing to these lower ratings included:
- UV filters Octocrylene and Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate
- PEG (Polyethylene Glycols) and PEG derivatives
- Silicones and Paraffins
- Formaldehyde and Formaldehyde releasers
We are happy to support you in analyzing substances that lead to a lower rating in Öko-Test as well as other substances regulated by Regulation (EU) 1223/2009.
