Ban of three fragrances in cosmetics is within reach
The substances Lyral, Atranol, and Chloratranol are the fragrances that have caused the most contact allergies among all allergenic fragrances in recent years. Therefore, according to the scientific committee of the European Union (SCCS), a risk to human health cannot be ruled out. A ban on their use and marketing in cosmetic products must therefore be implemented.
In line with this, these three substances are being listed in Annex II (prohibited substances) of the EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009. The amending regulation (EU) No. 2017/1410 was already adopted in 2017. From 23 August 2019, only cosmetics meeting the requirements of this amending regulation (prohibiting these three substances) may be placed on the market.
Have your cosmetic products regularly tested. The BAV Institute and its Tentamus partner laboratories test, among other things, for
- allergenic fragrances
- preservatives
- residues and contaminants such as nitrosamines, heavy metals, PAHs, and other substances
Create safety and thus comply with legal requirements.
