Banned fragrance in several cosmetic products - new recalls in the Safety Gate portal
Last week, there was once again a multitude of recalls of cosmetic products, as the banned fragrance Butylphenyl Methylpropional (Lilial/BMHCA) was detected.
Although this ingredient has been banned in cosmetic products since March 1, 2022, findings and resultant recalls still occur regularly.
This highlights the need for continuous monitoring and updating of raw materials in cosmetic products and their associated safety reports to bring safe products to market. This also applies to products that may have been on the market for years.
The EU's Safety Gate Rapid Alert System publishes potentially harmful cosmetics that do not comply with Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009.
In the Safety Gate, filtering by type of products, publication date, and type of recall (microbiological/chemical) is possible.
Therefore, have your products and raw materials regularly tested for microbiological and chemical residues. The experts at BAV Institute will help you select the testing parameters.
