Bavarian Control Authority for Food Safety and Veterinary Affairs has started work

On January 1, 2018, the Bavarian Control Authority for Food Safety and Veterinary Affairs (KBLV) at the Kulmbach office and the Erding branch took over responsibilities for approximately 600 large enterprises of certain categories throughout Bavaria. An interdisciplinary control team consisting of veterinarians, food chemists, agricultural engineers, food surveillance officers, and veterinary assistants monitors compliance with legal areas of food safety and hygiene, and in certain enterprises, also parts of other legal areas such as veterinary medicine, animal welfare, and animal diseases.

The control authority is overseen by the State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL), which in turn is subordinate to the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection. All information about the KBLV, including contact details, is published at www.kblv.bayern.de.
