When it comes to "viruses," most people these days think of "corona." According to current knowledge, the transmission of the coronavirus through food is not proven. However, infection with other viruses through food is possible. As part of "World Food Safety Day" on June 7, 2020, the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) has now published brief profiles of these food-related viruses.
Transmission routes, case numbers, and the disease profile of noroviruses, rotaviruses, Hepatitis A, and Hepatitis E viruses are discussed.
However, BfR President Dr. Dr. Andreas Hensel says: "Those who follow the simple rules of kitchen hygiene can significantly reduce the risk of infection." This includes heating foods and separating items such as raw meat and salad.
In our Tentamus laboratories, we regularly conduct examinations of various food-related viruses. We provide you with fast and reliable results.
