BfR recommendations for protection against Yersinia - In BAV Newsletter 01/2013

Yersinia are rod-shaped bacteria that can cause gastrointestinal infections. In 2011, around 3400 infections with Yersinia were reported in Germany. The bacteria can continue to multiply even at refrigeration temperatures as low as 4 °C. The Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) has published consumer information for protection against these germs.
