In a press release dated 25.11.20, the German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the foodstuffs and catering industry (BGN) provided information about a study on the influence of temperature, air quality, and distances on the likelihood of infection in the meat industry.

The data comes from a survey of 22 companies with a total workforce of 19,072 employees.

The conclusion of the study is as follows:

“In summary, it can be said that all examined factors influence the infection process. However, not all these factors can be changed in the context of infection protection against SARS-CoV-2 in the meat industry, such as the temperature in cooled work areas. It is all the more important that companies actually implement the SARS-CoV-2 occupational health and safety standards that they can influence, such as well-protective mouth-nose coverings or an adequate supply of fresh air, to protect their employees.” (Press Release BGN, 25.11.2020)
