The Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) examined over 250 meat products as part of a national project. The samples were taken both in wholesale and retail as well as from manufacturers and processing companies.

The investigation of different meat products for the accuracy of the declared animal species revealed an incorrect declaration of the animal species in seven samples. This corresponds to about 3% of the examined products.
