BVL warns of high pollutant levels in algae
Algae sheets are also gaining popularity in Germany. They are used in sushi dishes, salads, soups, and dietary supplements. However, marine algae often absorb pollutants from the environment.
The Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) has now reported that dried marine algae, in particular, contain very high levels of cadmium, lead, arsenic, and aluminum. Additionally, elevated iodine levels were detected in three-quarters of the samples.
In our Tentamus laboratories, we regularly conduct tests for heavy metals and trace elements. We deliver fast and reliable results.
