Causes for Alerts in RASFF
The preliminary RASFF annual report for 2016 indicates the reasons for warnings and border rejections in the European Rapid Alert System from the previous year. In summary, the main reasons are: pathogenic microorganisms, composition/ingredients, allergens, mycotoxins, heavy metals, foreign bodies, additives/flavorings, and pesticides. Microbiological-related warnings are clearly at the forefront across Europe.
We will report again as soon as the final RASFF annual report 2016 is published.
