Nowadays, hemp is considered a superfood and is therefore highly popular among customers.

However, products based on hemp often exceed the limit value for the substance tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Due to the psychoactive effects of THC, there is special attention from regulatory authorities on this product group.

The Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) has already published a statement on THC in foods in 2000.

Classic hemp-based products include cannabidiol (CBD) oils, various baked goods, snacks, teas, or hemp oil. Products often have to be recalled due to increased THC content.
