Brand owners must protect their brand names, and from time to time, there are curious cases.

A particularly curious case occurred this week in central Germany:
A pizza manufacturer from Hesse registered the name "Champignons League" for a frozen pizza. The European Football Association UEFA saw its brand name "Champions League" violated and threatened with a lawsuit if the manufacturer did not withdraw its trademark application. 

The manufacturer made the letter public on Instagram and received a lot of support from customers. UEFA then declared that it had acted hastily and withdrew the threat of a lawsuit. 


So, the matter ended well for the pizza manufacturer.

Nonetheless, this case shows how important legally impeccable labeling is.
