Change of the EU Contaminants Regulation regarding heavy metals

The EU Contaminants Regulation was fundamentally revised this year concerning heavy metals. This particularly affects lead and cadmium.

The regulation sets specific maximum levels for certain contaminants in specific foods or food categories. For lead and cadmium, these food categories were significantly individualized by September 2021.
