Chemical residues in cosmetic products and tattoo inks
Chemical residues in cosmetic products and tattoo inks repeatedly lead to non-compliant products and recalls from the market. This week, the RAPEX system (European Union rapid alert system) reported the following recalls:
- prohibited preservatives
- unlisted colorants
- elevated levels of nickel (contact allergen)
- elevated levels of formaldehyde (potential skin and eye irritations)
All these products do not comply with the requirements of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 (EU Cosmetics Regulation) and must not be placed on the market within the EU.
Ensure the quality of your products and used raw materials before placing them on the market and have them regularly tested for possible contaminants.
The BAV Institute and its Tentamus laboratory partners conduct the corresponding analyses for you. In this process, the testing parameters are determined specifically for each product.
In addition to chemical residue analysis and active substance content determination, we conduct microbiological examinations for you according to DIN EN ISO 17516. Labeling checks are also part of our portfolio.
