Four cosmetic products were reported in the European Union's rapid alert system (RAPEX) last week. The following risks were reported:
- Perfume with unlabelled allergenic fragrances
The product contains several fragrances that can trigger allergies in humans. According to Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, these fragrances must be labeled. None of these substances were listed in the list of ingredients. - Hair product with increased formaldehyde content
Formaldehyde was detected in a high amount in a product. The product is considered unsafe as formaldehyde can cause eye and skin irritation. - Baby wipes
The microorganism Staphylococcus aureus was detected in this product. The product does not meet the microbiological quality requirements of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009. ISO 17516 additionally requires the absence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans alongside this microorganism. - Skin bleaching agent
The substance hydroquinone was detected in significantly increased amounts in this cosmetic product. A health risk cannot be excluded.
All listed products do not comply with the requirements of the European Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 and may not be marketed or are recalled from the market.
Ensure the quality of your products before market release.
