Consumer Protection - Adulteration of Spices
As part of the Nationwide Monitoring Plan (BĂp), 61 oregano samples were examined in the previous year. The evaluation shows that 13% of the samples contained residues of olive leaves. But not only the oregano samples showed adulterations - in every fifth spice contamination with foreign plant parts such as wood parts could be detected.
Adulterations of both plant and animal products can be uncovered using the so-called Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) method.
In our Tentamus laboratories, we regularly perform these examinations. We provide you with fast and reliable results. For questions, our customer advisors are very happy to assist you.
