Contamination of cosmetic products with Burkholderia cepacia - ISO 17516
Contamination of cosmetics with the bacterium Burkholderia cepacia can pose a health hazard to consumers. The absence of this germ must therefore be demonstrated as part of the manufacturer's duty of care.
This microorganism is primarily found in water, but also, for example, in soil. It can also play a role in pharmaceuticals. The main issue is the fact that it very often shows resistance to common antibiotics.
Any detection of Burkholderia cepacia in a product is therefore a warning signal and can lead to a recall or withdrawal from the market.
As an accredited testing laboratory, we test both quantitatively and qualitatively in 1g according to ISO 1716 guidelines to ensure the absence of the germ. Thus, you are on the safe side.
In addition to Burkholderia cepacia, the examination also covers many other microorganisms such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa or Pluralibacter gergoviae.
