Reports Cosmetics Rapid Alert System Safety Gate – October 2025

For the month of October 2025, a total of 132 cosmetic products were reported as unsafe, based on VO (EC) No. 1223/2009. The consequences of this report are usually a public recall or withdrawal from the market.

The classification as unsafe was based on the following criteria:

• Excessive levels of formaldehyde
• Prohibited fragrance Butylphenyl Methylpropional (BMHCA)
• Microbiological contamination, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus
• Contents of hydroquinone, heavy metals, methylchloroisothiazolinone/methylisothiazolinone
• Evidence of the prohibited photoinitiator TPO (Diphenyl(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phosphine oxide)
• Sun protection factors too low compared to the claim
• Missing declaration of allergenic fragrances
