In the EU's rapid alert system called Safety Gate, the Commission informs about cosmetics that do not comply with Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009 and are withdrawn or recalled.

The majority of all reports relate to the detection of the prohibited fragrance Lilial. In May 2024, there were a total of 160 reports due to the following issues: 

• Prohibited fragrance Butylphenyl Methylpropional (Lilial)
• Prohibited preservative Methylchloroisothiazolinone in leave-on products
• Excessive heavy metal content
• Detection of per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS)

In Safety Gate, you can filter by product type, type of risk, and date.
