In the EU rapid alert system for non-food products Safety Gate, the following cosmetics were recalled or withdrawn from the market in July 2021 due to possible consumer health risks:
- Decorative cosmetics: increased level of chromium
- Skincare: Detection of clobetasol propionate (effective glucocorticoid)
- Bath product: Similarity to food (risk of ingestion)
- Skincare: significantly increased level of salicylic acid
- Face cream: increased level of mercury
Regularly test your raw materials as well as cosmetic finished products for possible contaminants and residues to comply with the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009. The cosmetic experts will assist you in choosing suitable test parameters.
