Revision of Standards for Microbiological Methods
The international standards committee revised and reissued last year the standards for the determination methods “Detection of Pseudomonas aeruginosa” (DIN EN ISO 22717), “Detection of Staphylococcus aureus” (DIN EN ISO 22718), “Detection of Escherichia coli” (DIN EN ISO 21150) and “Detection of Candida albicans” (DIN EN ISO 18416). The English versions are already available, and the publication of the German versions is expected soon. Changes are only in the area of normative references, as well as the renaming of the term “validation” to “suitability” in all four standards.
Current Standardization Projects in the Field of Cosmetics
Newly emerging is the standard DIN EN ISO 19838, the “Guideline for the application of ISO standards for microbiology of cosmetic products.” This standard aims to better connect the existing regulations and thus represents a comprehensive overview.
