News on the Control Regulation (EU) 2017625 and Food Fraud

The Council of the European Union has adopted conclusions on further steps to improve the capabilities to combat and prevent fraudulent practices in the food chain through deterrence.

In the related circular of the German Food Association, it states: "In its conclusions, the Council points out that a high level of protection in the areas of health, safety, environmental protection, and consumer protection is a general goal of EU policy, and notes that the existing EU legal framework is appropriate for combating food fraud in this report.
