Detection of allergens in gluten-free pizza dough mix - Product recall

Currently, a pizza dough labeled as "gluten-free" is being recalled due to undeclared allergens.

Allergens must be labeled. If the manufacturer of a food product uses allergenic ingredients during production, they must always declare it, even for loose goods, such as in bakeries or gastronomy. However, it is not mandatory to provide a notice if the manufacturer does not intentionally add the allergen but cannot exclude contamination with it. This is the case, for example, if he processes allergenic ingredients in the same facility. For many products, providers still print the notice "May contain traces of..." or "May contain..." to protect themselves from liability claims.

People who suffer from a food allergy should avoid allergens in food. Even the smallest traces of allergens can lead to health complaints. Further information is listed in Annex II of the Food Information Regulation (FIR) Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 about consumer information on food.

In our Tentamus laboratories, we regularly conduct tests for allergens. We provide you with fast and reliable results.

For questions, our customer advisors are very happy to help you.
