At the end of 2024, the draft of the 24th ATP (Adaptation to Technical Progress) to amend the CLP Regulation was published. It contains a total of 48 entries for new inclusions or amendments. This becomes relevant when these substances are classified as CMR substances (Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, Reproductive Toxic) and thus banned.
For cosmetics, the following substances could be affected:
- Certain Lithium compounds
- Borates and Borate-containing minerals
- Potassium Bromide
- Eugenol
- Heliotropin
- Hydroxypropyl Methacrylate
- Bronopol
- Thymol
This ATP, the implementation into the CLP Regulation, as well as a subsequent regulation under the Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009 will be relevant at the earliest in 2028, also concerning the sale of products in the trade. We will keep you updated.
