Draft Standard Cosmetics ISO 21322 - Microbiological Testing of Wet Wipes and Masks
The draft standard ISO/DIS 21322 describes the microbiological examination of impregnated and coated cosmetic products. These include, among others, impregnated cosmetic wet wipes and face masks. Unlike other cosmetic products, such products consist of a carrier material (legally classified as an article of daily use) and an impregnating solution (cosmetic product).
The standard describes the procedure for the microbiological testing of such products and provides guidance on sample preparation, dilution solutions, testing the suitability of the methodology, etc. The tests include the enumeration of aerobic mesophilic microorganisms, yeasts, and molds, as well as the absence of specific microorganisms (Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans). The standard refers to DIN EN ISO 17516 – microbiological limits for cosmetic products.
