EarlyWarningSystem ISAR
The early warning system ISAR is a system for the early detection or early warning of risks to food safety. The system was developed by the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL) and the Ludwig Maximilian University of Stuttgart, and aims to uncover fraud risks and health hazards from food.
In the ISAR early warning system, foreign trade statistics are evaluated, among other things, with regard to import quantities and prices. For example, price increases would lead to a warning message to the authorities because this offers fraudulent potential. In past, expensive raw materials were adulterated with cheaper alternatives. Through ISAR, the authorities can identify such dangers at an early stage. If the suspicion of a health or fraud risk is confirmed, the responsible authorities will take the necessary measures to withdraw the affected food from the market or to protect consumers in another way.
Our Tentamus laboratories routinely conduct investigations into food adulteration.
