On 04.10.2022, some editorial changes to the guidelines for meat and meat products were published in the Federal Gazette.
In guideline number 1.2.7, animal body parts that are not allowed to be processed in meat products are listed, such as hides of ruminants, brain, cattle spleen, etc. The list has now been supplemented by the thyroid gland.
Further changes include the deletion of the term “Gypsy.” In guideline number 2.1.2.1, "Gypsy roast" was deleted and in guideline number 2.1.4.1 in the description of meat skewers “Gypsy skewers” were deleted.
In guideline number 2.4.2.4.5, the “Gypsy sausage” was deleted, the guideline number now only includes “paprika bacon sausage.”
In guideline number 2.3.2.6, there is a reference to formed meat, which is described in guideline number 1.2.4. In the previous publication, there was still a reference to the former guideline number 2.19.
