EFSA – Assessment of microbiological risks of vibrios in seafood

The EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) points out that vibrios are increasingly exhibiting antibiotic resistance. Vibrios are ubiquitously distributed environmental bacteria, which are found particularly in waters with low salt content or brackish water.

Through the consumption of raw or insufficiently heated seafood, fish, and fish products, the vibrios contained therein can cause diarrhea diseases in humans.

Due to rising temperatures caused by climate change, it is expected that the prevalence of vibrios in seafood will increase.

In our Tentamus laboratories, we conduct tests for Vibrio spp. We provide you with fast and reliable results and are happy to advise you on all matters regarding product safety. If you have any questions, our customer advisors are happy to assist you.
