EFSA publishes risk assessment and tolerable intake levels of perfluorinated alkyl substances
Perfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of man-made chemical compounds that are manufactured and used in a variety of industries around the world.
Food can become contaminated with PFAS mainly through polluted soil and water. The intake of PFAS can have a variety of negative consequences in the human body, ranging from elevated cholesterol levels to cancer.
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has now set an acceptable weekly intake (TWI) of 4.4 nanograms per kilogram of body weight as part of its risk assessment.
In our Tentamus laboratories, we regularly conduct examinations for PFAS. We provide you with fast and reliable results.
