EFSA updates recommendations for phosphates
The estimated total intake of phosphates from food can exceed the safe intake amount established by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
Scientists from the EFSA also recommend the introduction of permissible maximum levels to reduce the phosphate content when used as additives in dietary supplements. In this case, there may be a risk with regular intake.
For the first time, the EFSA has now established an acceptable daily intake for phosphates for infants and young children. The ADI (acceptable daily intake) of 40 mg per kilogram has been determined for this group.
In our Tentamus laboratories, we regularly carry out phosphate determination. We provide you with fast and reliable results.
