European Commission publishes report on the evaluation of the Cosmetics Regulation
In early October, the European Commission published the report as part of the evaluation of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009.
It provides an overview of all feedback from industry, associations, authorities, and consumers. A total of 206 questions were answered:
Specifically explained were:
- Function of the European internal market
- Benefits of the Product Information File (PID; English: PIF)
- Labeling requirements
- Animal testing ban
Criticism was mainly directed at the too short transition periods for new substance bans, which are regulated both by the Cosmetics Regulation and by REACH, as well as the costs of documentation.
