Extortionist poisons baby food with ethylene glycol
Several food and drugstore chains are currently being blackmailed by someone demanding millions from them. Otherwise, he threatens to distribute poisoned food nationwide in retail stores. The blackmailer has already carried this out in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance, where, following his tip, several baby jars poisoned with ethylene glycol were found.
Consumers must currently pay attention to the following aspects when shopping for food:
- Damage to product packaging
- Lack of vacuum in products in jars (the lids of these jars typically have an inward curvature, and when opened, you usually hear a "pop")
- In case of doubt, DO NOT consume the product but return it to the retailer, as, for example, ethylene glycol is colorless and odorless
- Call the Konstanz police hotline for tips: 07531/9953434
