Food alert: Recalls due to Listeria monocytogenes and missing allergen labeling
Current recalls: Danger from Listeria monocytogenes
Currently, there are increasing recalls for cheese, matjes fillet, and other foods contaminated with the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes.
Symptoms and risks of listeriosis
- Incubation period: up to 14 days
- Common symptoms: diarrhea, fever
- Risk groups: pregnant women, seniors, people with weakened immune systems
In risk groups, listeriosis can lead to blood poisoning (sepsis) or meningitis.
For pregnant women: Even without their own symptoms, the unborn child may be harmed.
Recall due to missing allergen labeling
Products are also recalled if allergens are not or incompletely labeled on the packaging.
For people with food allergies or intolerances, this can be life-threatening.
Food safety at BAV Institute
