Food Information Regulation - In BAV Newsletter 04/2011

The Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 on the provision of food information to consumers was published in the EU Official Journal on November 22, 2011. The changes primarily concern regulations on nutritional information, minimum font size, allergen information for loose goods, and origin labeling. The Food Information Regulation (FIR) comes into effect on December 12, 2011. It applies from December 13, 2014. However, the new obligations for nutritional labeling do not apply until December 13, 2016.
