Food Monitoring 2010 - In BAV Newsletter 04/2011
The food monitoring is a systematic investigation program carried out jointly by the federal and state governments to monitor "substances undesirable for health" and is conducted in parallel with official food surveillance.
For the year 2010, 19 plant-based foods and 3 animal-based foods were selected for basket monitoring. Investigations included, among others, pesticide residues, mycotoxins, heavy metals, as well as dioxins, PCBs and other contaminants.
The complete monitoring report for 2010 is available on the homepage of the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL).
