In the May 2022 issue, the Öko-Test magazine examined a total of 50 so-called repair shampoos for ingredients and contaminants. 25 of the tested products received at least a very good or good rating. Due to the following critical ingredients, there are grade reductions:
- Formaldehyde releasers, such as Diazolidinyl Urea
- Silicones and synthetic polymers
- Allergy-causing fragrances such as Isoeugenol
- PEGs and PEG derivatives
- Halogenated organic compounds
