Germany advocates for European glyphosate phase-out
Against the backdrop of threatened biodiversity, the federal government has advocated for a European glyphosate phase-out and warned against inconsistent protection levels in the EU.
Today, the Member States consulted in the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food, and Feed (SCoPAFF) on whether the active substance glyphosate should be re-approved. The federal government is represented by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL). Previously, the EU Commission had proposed a renewal of the glyphosate approval for ten years.
