The new hygiene seal in Hamburg is intended to show consumers when catering establishments have been rated "good" or "very good" in food inspections.

According to the Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NOR), out of approximately 6,000 pubs, restaurants, canteens, snack bars, cafes, and ice cream parlors in Hamburg, only 32 have registered for the hygiene seal so far - 13 establishments have been awarded. Participation in the hygiene seal is voluntary.
