Health Risks from Cosmetics? - Rapid Alerts on Cosmetic Products
The RAPEX system (abbreviation for Rapid Exchange) lists all consumer goods that are on the market in Europe and pose a hazard. The system serves the rapid exchange of information, which is important for manufacturers, authorities, traders, but also for all interested individuals, as all information is public under ec.europa.eu. In the future, we will regularly provide you with RAPEX evaluations to inform you about current problems or trends regarding complaints about cosmetic products.
Attached is a summary of the reports for the period 01.2017 to 08.2017.
In the reports due to microbiological contamination, cosmetic products constituted the main reason for RAPEX reports in the period from January to August 2017 with 6 out of 12 reports. Compared to all products reported in the RAPEX system by the end of August 2017 (1366), cosmetic products represent a small proportion. We will inform you in more detail shortly about individual notable product groups or hazards.
