Harmful Listeria monocytogenes detected in chicken schnitzel - product recall
Listeria monocytogenes was detected in a chicken schnitzel sample. The finding leads to a recall of the food product.
Listeria are widespread in the environment and can be found on plants, in wastewater systems, as well as in the stool of healthy and sick animals. They are often found in raw foods (e.g., meat, poultry, milk, vegetables, fish, and seafood), but are also significant in processed foods (e.g., meat products, smoked fish products, mixed salads).
These bacteria can cause very serious illnesses, especially in pregnant women, infants, elderly, and sick people. The proportion of fatalities occurring in these groups is relatively high.
At BAV Institute, we regularly conduct testing for Listeria. We provide fast and reliable results and are happy to advise you on all aspects of product safety. Our customer advisors are available for any questions you may have.
