Health-hazardous Listeria monocytogenes detected in smoked rainbow trout - product recall

Listeria monocytogenes was detected in a fishery product. The finding leads to a recall of the food product.

Listeria are widespread in the environment and can be found on plants, in wastewater systems, and in the stool of healthy and diseased animals. They are often present in raw foods (e.g., meat, poultry, milk, vegetables, fish, and seafood) but are also significant in processed foods (e.g., meat and sausages, smoked fish products, mixed salads).

These bacteria can cause very severe illnesses especially in pregnant women, infants, the elderly, and sick people. The proportion of deaths occurring is relatively high in these persons.

At BAV Institut, we regularly conduct testing for Listeria. We provide you with fast and reliable results and are happy to advise you on all matters related to product safety. Our customer advisors are available to answer any questions you may have.
