Infections due to coronavirus from contaminated food not known

For diseases caused by coronaviruses, food or consumer products do not play a role according to current knowledge.

Studies have shown that these pathogens exhibit low environmental stability (www.uni-greifswald.de).

Transmission from person to person, particularly through droplet infection but also smear infection, is the transmission route of the current wave of illness (see Coronavirus information sheet by BAV Institut).
