Infections with SARS-CoV-2 through the consumption of meat products not known

After the infections in slaughter and processing plants with the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), the question of whether infections or COVID-19 illnesses can be transmitted via meat products or other foods is becoming more frequent.

However, the BfR is not currently aware of any infections with SARS-CoV-2 through the consumption of food and meat products or contact with contaminated meat products.
